Following the announcement by the Chancellor regarding the review of the New Hospitals Programme, the Deputy Leader of Labour-run Waltham Forest Council Cllr Clyde Loakes issued a statement to reassure residents of our commitment to this vital project:
We will continue to urge the new Government for the funding desperately needed to create a new Whipps Cross Hospital that meets the needs of the community into the 21st century and beyond.
We know how important a modern, state-of-the-art hospital is for the 400,000 residents of Waltham Forest and Redbridge who rely on it. They deserve a Whipps Cross that is fit for the future.
The redevelopment project will also provide hundreds of much-needed new homes, many of which would be for NHS staff and other key workers, and at the same time create important flood mitigation and protection measures.
This is a great example of the new Government’s growth agenda and demonstrates how building the right developments in the right places helps build stronger, more resilient communities that are ready to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
