As council leaders in London we come together to express our deep concern over the violence and public disorder spreading across the country in the wake of the recent horrific events in Southport.

The far-right have exploited this moment to target migrant and Muslim communities , attempting to sow division and hatred. London’s diverse heritage has always been our strength and the city stands firm against hate and violence. We are working with the police, faith and community partners to provide reassurance to Londoners.

As Labour council leaders, we are committed to ensuring that every Londoner feels safe and secure in the city we all call home. We urge all residents to stand together during these challenging times. It is only through unity and collective action that London can continue to be a place of hope and resilience.
